About
A small pouch of icon tools
FaviconPouch makes the icons a website needs, from the 16-pixel tab icon to the home-screen icons for iPhones and Android, and checks the HTML and manifest that point to them. Every tool is free and needs no account.
Everything happens in your browser
Images, letters, emoji, fonts and HTML you use here are processed by JavaScript in your own browser tab. Icons are drawn on a canvas, PNG and ICO files are encoded on your device, and ZIP files are packed locally. Nothing you add to a tool is uploaded. Once a page has loaded, its tool keeps working offline, except that the text tools fetch each font the first time you pick it.
A modern, minimal set
Many favicon generators still produce dozens of sizes for devices that have not shipped in a decade. FaviconPouch recommends what current browsers and phones actually read: favicon.ico, an SVG favicon, one Apple touch icon, and 192 and 512 px manifest icons with a maskable variant. Fewer files means fewer requests and less to maintain.
How it is built
The ICO reader and writer, the TrueType outline reader used for text favicons, the manifest validator and the head checker are small pieces of code written for this site and tested against real files, including old bitmap icons. Fonts for text favicons are open-source fonts from the Fontsource project.
Who runs it
FaviconPouch is one of a family of free single-purpose tool sites. There are no ads and no sign-ups. The only measurement is Cloudflare Web Analytics, which counts page views without cookies; see the privacy page for details.
